Official reports indicate that more than 60% of cancer cases in Palestine are reported at a late stage, reducing survival odds. With help of the Beita women Development Society, we're spreading breast cancer awareness throughout Palestine. Home vegetable gardens The Beita Women's Development Society (BWDS) are skillfully addressing concerns about food security by facilitating women's more active participation in the labour market, simultaneously contributing to both Palestinian welfare and women's financial inclusion. Intercultural education In a society marked by mutual fear and mistrust between Jews and Arabs, fostering understanding and cooperation is vital. This initiative aims to break down barriers through shared educational experiences. Breast cancer awareness This initiative strives to bridge an important gap within Jewish ultraorthodox Haredi communities, where women often lack access to mainstream news media and comprehensive education about their bodies and health. Comprehensive breast care centre Since 2011, The DEAR Foundation Switzerland has been instrumental in supporting the construction and design of a state-of-the-art breast care centre at the EMEK Medical Center. Psycho-social and economic empowerment More than half of Silwan’s residents are under 18, and 75% live under the poverty line. The school dropout has reached 60%. In 2021, Palestinian sources reported that 2,788 East Jerusalemites were arrested, including 707 minors.
